Event Highlights: The Bicentennial of the U.S.-Colombia Relationship

On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the Center for Latin American Studies welcomed Juan Carlos Pinzón, Ambassador of Colombia to the United States. To commemorate the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Colombia and the United States, the Ambassador spoke at length about the history of the countries’ binational relationship, their partnership, and the political challenges that both countries face. The Ambassador’s remarks were followed by a Q&A focused on the defense of democracy, migration, and climate change. The conversation was moderated by Jorge Heine, Research Professor at BU’s Pardee School of Global Studies and the former Ambassador of Chile to China (2014-2017), to India (2003-2007), and to South Africa (1994-1999).
