COVID-19 in Latin America: A Conversation with Carlos Duran
This is the third in a series of interviews conducted by Boston University School of Public Health students Alejandro Alvarez and Juliana Barounis as part of their practicum requirement for the MPH. The goal of their project, which is being supported logistically by the Center for Latin American Studies as part of a larger look at COVID-19 in Latin America, is to explore the current pandemic from a variety of angles through conversations with healthcare and public health professionals throughout Latin America.
Alejandro Alvarez is a current MPH candidate striving to attain certificates in Epidemiology & Biostatistics as well as Global Health. He aspires to use knowledge and experience attained at BUSPH to work internationally and help increase access to health resources in underserved and vulnerable populations across the Americas.
Juliana Barounis is a current MPH candidate at BUSPH concentrating in Health, Policy, and Law and Global Health. Her background is in Psychology and Hispanic Studies, and her interests are in patient-doctor relationships, access and appropriate quality care, and oral and dental health care.
In this interview, Alejandro and Juliana speak with Carlos Duran, Carlos Eduardo Durán Salinas is the former Deputy Minister of Public Health of Ecuador and is currently a doctorate in Belgium.
