James Iffland at “Roque Dalton and the intellectuals: then and now” in El Salvador
The Multidisciplinary Faculty of the West (FMOcc) of the University of El Salvador (UES) hosted the second day of the conference cycle called “Roque Dalton and the intellectuals: then and now”, given by the PhD. James Iffland, researcher at Boston University, this March 12.
During the academic day, the dean of the FMOcc, PhD, was present. Raúl Azcúnaga; the director of the University Press of the UES, PhD. David Hernández and the director of the Doctorate in Letters program of the FMOcc, PhD. Mauricio Ciciliano.
During his speech, the PhD. Azcúnaga stressed the importance of knowing the role that Roque Dalton played in the history of El Salvador, being one of the greatest exponents, through his literature, about the class struggle that was maintained in the sixties to achieve the common good of the population.
“Solving the problems of Salvadorans is the responsibility of Salvadorans. In this case, Dalton was at the service of the conglomerate, that lower class that always seeks to get ahead, despite the obstacles that are on the way and that prevent them from moving forward to live better; therefore, this house of studies is at the service of all people, “added the PhD. Azcúnaga.
