Rodrigo Lopes de Barrios recieved the LASA Award of Merit in Film

We are glad to announce that Rodrigo Lopes de Barrios is a recipient of the LASA Award of Merit in Film. The Latin American Studies Association is the largest professional association in the field. The 2016 congress will celebrate the 50 years of LASA and will take place in NY from May 27 to May 30. More than 5500 researchers are expected to attend and participate in more than 1500 sessions.
The LASA Congress also holds the LASA Film Festival, which selects a very limited number of recent films from Latin America. Those films compete for the LASA Award Merit in Film. Rodrigo was awarded the prize through his most recent documentary “Chacal: Proibido Fazer Poesia”.
Some additional information about the prize:
“The LASA Film Festival has been an important feature of the LASA Congresses since 1983. Its trajectory and importance can be measured by the permanent presence of the LASA Festival’s awards in all important national and international film catalogs.”
“Films and videos will be screened free of charge in the LASA2016 Film Festival, and compete for the juried designation of LASA2016 Award of Merit in Film, which is given for ‘excellence in the visual presentation of educational and artistic materials on Latin America.’”
