Pediatric Global Health Research Fellow at the Center for Global Health and Development
Before joining the team at the CGHD, Dr. Bonawitz worked in Botswana and Ghana. From 2008-2010 she studied HAART utilization in hospitalized patients at Princess Marina Hospital, Gaborone, Botswana, as well as contributed to a RCT examining the early administration of HAART in patients hospitalized with cryptococcal meningitis. In 2006, she assisted on an EU-funded RCT in Ghana comparing treatment regimens for Buruli ulcer. Her current research interests include community-based interventions aimed at improving PMTCT and childhood survival. Dr. Bonawitz completed her clinical training in pediatrics in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics at both Boston Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital and is currently an attending pediatrician at Boston Medical Center. She is a candidate for a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health.
Dr. Bonawitz is co-leading a research project alongside Dr. Stephanie Klees on breastfeeding clinics at Boston Medical Center with a grant from the Initiative.
