Join the Boston University Initiative on Cities and the City Planning & Urban Affairs Program for a panel discussion on how innovations and the latest in infrastructure delivery, materials, AI, electrification, data, and autonomy impact our built environment. The panel will examine the differences between private and public sector approaches to technological advances and discuss how to proactively engage with interactive opportunities for research and development in cities. Jamey Tesler, Executive Director of Mass Mobility Hub, and Paul Lam, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Finance of BOT.Auto will join the panel.

Speakers

Jamey Tesler is currently the Executive Director of the Mass Mobility Hub, a public benefit corporation with a mission to support mobility and transportation companies in their growth and accelerate change in this sector. Previously, Jamey served as Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, where he was responsible for a fully multimodal state transportation department, oversaw the leadership of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and served on the board of the Massachusetts Port Authority.  Jamey had also served as Registrar of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) in June of 2020, after serving in the role on an interim basis since June of 2019.  Jamey has previously worked for more than 20 years in senior management roles in the public sector, having experience in infrastructure, transit, sustainability, mobility, public finance, and public policy. Jamey has been a Visiting Fellow at the Taubman Center for State and Local Government at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2023 and 2024.

Paul Lam is the Founding Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Finance at BOT.Auto, an autonomous trucking company in Texas. Previously, he led Corporate Strategy at TuSimple (NASDAQ listed). Paul held various investment and strategy positions at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the World Bank Group, and UBS. He developed the digital infrastructure strategy for AIIB and coined the term “Infratech” at G20. He has executed over $650M of principal equity and debt investments and advised $2B of corporate M&A transactions in infrastructure sectors. Paul holds an MPhil in Economics and Finance from the University of Cambridge. Paul is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Royal Society of Arts Fellow.
