Happy New Year! As we prepare to begin the spring 2019 semester, we’d like to share a few important BU Hub updates with you:
BU Hub Curriculum Development
- Hub Courses: The University Council General Education Committee (GEC) has now approved over 620 courses and cocurricular learning experiences for inclusion in the BU Hub.
- Hub Deadlines: For AY 2020 (spring-only and summer-only courses), the deadline for submitting Hub courses to the GEC is March 15, 2019. A listing of proposal deadlines can be found on the Hub website. Priority areas of development include courses that focus on the following Hub areas: Scientific Inquiry II or Social Inquiry II (Learning Outcome 2); Digital/Multimedia Expression; Writing-Intensive Course; The Individual in Community; and Creativity/Innovation.
- GEC Interpretive Documents: The GEC continues to add to its GEC Interpretive Documents to provide additional guidance on Hub learning outcomes and policies. One new document has been added: “Hub Courses Cross-Listed with Graduate Courses.”
- Hub Courses & Summer Term: Please note that only courses approved for the Hub for AY 2018-2019 will carry Hub units in Summer 2019. If you have any questions about whether a course will carry Hub units this summer, please contact the Hub office at thehub@bu.edu or 617-358-6535.
