On Friday, May 17th, 2024, students, faculty, and family gathered in the Metcalf Ballroom at the George Sherman Union to honor and celebrate the new graduates of the History Department. The ceremony itself was a reflection of the academic journeys undertaken by each graduate throughout their time at Boston University. The department’s top two awards for excellence among undergraduates went to Lauren Gotard and Eitan Marshall-Pinko, who each spoke during the ceremony. They respectively won the Warren O. Ault Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement in History and the CAS College Prize for Excellence in History.

Elizabeth Sepper, a 2002 graduate of the department and now a professor at the University of Texas School of Law, gave the convocation address. She reminded graduates to pursue truth, courage, and hope, throughout both their careers and life overall.

A reception filled with pastries and mimosas followed the ceremony, where graduates and their families were able to celebrate with faculty and commemorate their achievements.
