PhD Candidate Tom Sojka Wins Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award

Tom Sojka, a PhD candidate in the Department of History, is a recipient of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences’ 2019-2020 Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award. In the department’s nomination of Sojka for the award, they wrote:

Several faculty have nominated Tom Sojka very highly for this award. He is a creative and conscientious teacher, but in particular he has been immensely helpful during the recent transition to remote learning. As his current faculty mentor writes, “He anticipated that students would have trouble accessing sources and uploaded documents to our Blackboard page. He has also been curating our Blackboard Learn Discussion Board with great care and precision. I’m also struck by Tom’s concern for the wellbeing of our students. He has been following up with those who seem overwhelmed or lost, and ensuring that we all maintain strong communication. In short, Tom has been a rock these past few weeks. It would be lovely to recognize him at this particular moment.”
