Sarah Bald is a PhD student in the Bioinformatics program. She has a BS in Computational and Systems Biology from UCLA, where she studied similarities and differences between the human gut microbiome of western and non-western populations. She is now a part of Daniel Segrè’s lab, which specializes in modeling biological systems, and metabolism. With her research, Sarah works to understand how the complex metabolic functions of microbial communities are organized, determined, and distributed with applications in modulating microbial communities for human health benefits and climate solutions.
