Katya Ravid is a professor of medicine and biochemistry in the department of medicine at Boston University’s Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (CAMED). Ravid is also the Founding Director of the Evans Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research and the Director of the Boston University Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Office.

Her research in the Ravid Lab focuses on platelet activation and its mechanisms. Understanding the processes controlling the development and activation of these cells is fundamental to cell biology, as well as has potential translational implications. Her research specifically analyzes bone marrow stem cells to this lineage, and the subsequent steps of cellular maturation, polyploidy and platelet biogenesis. Ravid was selected as an Institute Research Fellow in January 2017.
