Aldo Pacchiano comes to BU as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences (CDS). His research lies in the areas of Reinforcement Learning, Online Learning, Bandits, and Algorithmic Fairness. Aldo is particularly interested in furthering our statistical understanding of learning phenomena in adaptive environments and using these theoretical insights and techniques to design efficient and safe algorithms for scientific, engineering, and large-scale societal applications.
Originally from Mexico City, Aldo obtained his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley under the advisement of Peter Bartlett and Michael Jordan. More recently, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Microsoft Research NYC.
In 2024, Aldo joined Boston University after completing a one-year appointment at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. His research centers on creating novel mathematical, computational, and algorithmic methods to advance biomedical research.
