“TASSEL (teaching and sharing skills to enhance lives) is an organization that provides kids, specifically poor Cambodian children, the opportunity to receive an English education (which they wouldn’t get otherwise). Volunteer high scholars, college students, and even adults give an hour of their time each week to teach a group of children English over VSEE, a video chat application. The past two summers I have had the opportunity to visit Cambodia to teach these children in person. 8 of us traveled to Cambodia with 400 pounds of clothes and medicine and an open heart to teach these kids the English language. I have never seen kids this poor and hungry. Period. But never have I seen kids this happy, with such a good attitude towards life and learning.

This is my favorite picture that I’ve ever taken. So much can be said through this single picture. The man on the left is one of our volunteer teachers who was handing out clothes to the children. Most kids only have one shirt and one pair of pants and this kid was no exception. I cannot describe the amazement and gratitude of this young boy when he handed him the pants. We were there to change their lives. But they most definitely changed mine.”
