Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale (UNO), Naples, Italy

Boston University faculty members are invited to apply for the faculty exchange program between Boston University and the Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale (UNO). BU’s agreement with the UNO provides funding for one faculty exchange per year. The exchange is for a period of three weeks.

Full-time faculty members from the BU Charles River campus with particular interest in the scholarly collections and research opportunities at the UNO are invited to apply. Priority will be given to applicants in the fields of African studies, archaeology and classical studies, languages, and linguistics whose academic pursuits and research will benefit most from the resources available at UNO. Other inquires are welcome.

BU will cover the cost of round-trip transportation to Naples—including reasonable standard round-trip airfare and associated ground transportation. UNO provides lodging (typically a modest hotel). Costs associated with traveling companions will not be covered and are the responsibility of the scholar.

Applications are due to BU Study Abroad no later Friday, February 11, 20XX for travel to commence no earlier than mid-May 20XX. Emailed electronic submissions are preferred.

An application must include:

• A two page proposal on a topic relevant to the research currently pursued by faculty members at the UNO, or connected with the special resources of that scholarly community. Successful proposals will describe projects which can be accomplished within the available time, and which will make productive use of the opportunity to work with students and scholars at the UNO.
• Proposed timetable/dates and an indication of flexibility regarding dates
• A curriculum vitae of no more than four pages

Selected faculty will be asked to submit a brief report to XXX, summarizing the main aspects of their work at the UNO.

Candidates will be notified of the final selection by March 1 or shortly thereafter.
