Discover Prague: BU Launches New Internship Study Abroad Program
New Prague Internship Program Offers Exciting Opportunity for Students to Gain Real-World Professional Experience in the Heart of Central Europe
With the launch of BU Study Abroad’s newest program, undergraduate students now have the opportunity to spend the fall or spring interning in Prague, one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. By participating in the Prague Internship Program, students will build their resume, earn academic credit, and immerse themselves in a culture that sits at the crossroads of history and modernity. This program builds on BU’s summer internship programs in the capital city of the Czech Republic.
“We’re excited to expand opportunities for students and deepen our engagement in the Czech capital, with enriching pre-professional opportunities across a wide range of sectors,” says Gareth McFeely, Executive Director of BU Study Abroad. “The fall and spring programs really allow students to get a full sense of what it’s like to live and work in Prague and central Europe more broadly.”
Prague is a thriving center of commerce, communications, arts, and more — making it an ideal location for students who want to complement their academics with meaningful professional experience. Academic internships are at the core of this program with students spending between 16 and 20 hours per week interning in English-speaking placements across a wide range of industries. As part of the academic internship, students enroll in a 0-unit Hub co-curricular and a required four-unit internship course, which helps students establish learning goals and encourages self-reflection on internship experiences.
Eligible internship courses include options in arts administration, business and economics, politics and international relations, comparative law, international organizations, and health and human services, ensuring students can earn units in a field aligned with their academic and career goals. The program is offered in both the fall and the spring. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn 16 Boston University units, including a BU Hub requirement in the area of Individual in Community.
