Funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)  supported the renovation of four laboratory modules in the Metcalf Center for Science and Engineering. The renovations directly supported research efforts in synthetic and medicinal chemistry in three major undertakings: the Boston University Center for Molecular Discovery, the Center for Chemical Methodology and Library Development, and the recruitment of faculty with a biological chemistry focus. The renovation of more than 6,700 square feet of lab space further enhanced BU’s position as a world-class research facility—allowing for 20 additional researchers in the Department of Chemistry on the Charles River Campus.
