Dissertation Writing Group

Dissertation Writing GroupĀ

Do you find yourself overwhelmed by the dissertation writing process? Is it difficult to meet the writing goals that you set for yourself each week? Is it difficult to set those goals? Every doctoral student struggles with the dissertation process, and the Educational Resource Center is here to help! The ERC’s dissertation writing group provides doctoral students with structured writing time so that you can set goals, be held accountable, and make weekly progress. The beginning of each three hour writing session will be devoted to setting goals for the day and sharing them with peers and the facilitator. At the end of each session, the group will discuss progress made, challenges, and victories. The roughly 2 1/2 hours in the middle will be devoted to writing! An ERC staff member will be present during the entirety of the session in order to address concerns, help with motivation, and ensure accountability. Join us to combat the isolation that can accompany the dissertation process, build camaraderie across disciplines, and, most importantly, get words on the page.

This summer, the ERC is hosting a five day intensive writing group to get you prepared for the semester! The group will meet from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM on Monday, August 20th through Friday, August 24th. To register for the summer intensive, please fill out this intake form. Enrollment for the Fall 2018 group is also now open! The group will meet on Mondays from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM in Yawkey 545 starting on September 24th. Because these groups are centered around accountability, you must commit to attending every meeting for the full three hours. To register, please fill out this intake form.
