Mocha Terminal for UIS

The following are some general notes about installing and using Mocha (tn3270). If you’re trying to install from off campus, follow these instructions for mounting the Support drive: MountingENGNAS

VPN

To connect to uisa.bu.edu, you will have to connect to the 2 Factor VPN: https://www.bu.edu/tech/services/cccs/remote/vpn/two-factor-vpn/

For Windows

If installing after mounting support navigate to:

\\software\windows\i386\Mochasoft\Mocha tn3270 Win

and run the tn3270.msi

Edit/New Session

  1. Name: UIS
  2. IBm Mainframe IP Address: uisa.bu.edu
  3. Port Number: 992
  4. Security: SSL
  5. Terminal Size: 24×80

For Mac

If installing, after mounting support navigate to:

/software/mac/os x/tn3270

Mount the dmg, then drag the application to the Applications folder in the finder. Use the following configuration settings.

  1. Mount the tn327.dmg
  2. Drag the tn3270 X from the mounted device to the Applications folder in the Finder.
  3. Launch tn327 and configure:
    1. Host Name: uisa.bu.edu
    2. Window Title: UIS
    3. Select the “Special” icon: set port number to 992, and security to SSL/TLS and leave the remaining defaults
    4. Open the Connection
  4. Select additional features:
    1. From the Menu Bar select Session
    2. Screen format allows you to change the font and window size of the terminal
    3. Miscellaneous lets you change how the cursor is displayed. Block shows where the cursor is in the window (USE IT!)
  5. Save your configuration to the desktop by selecting File, Save Settings As
    1. The client can use this settings file as a way to Launch UIS from the desktop
