Heat Advisory: 7/9/24

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Boston area Tuesday, July 9 – Wednesday, July 10, 2024 with the possibility of being extended into Thursday the 11th. Heat temperatures for the next few days will be in the 90s with high humidity making it feel even warmer.
Boston University will open cooling centers until Friday for summer program students and others in the BU community seeking relief from the heat at the following locations.
Cooling Center Locations and Hours of Operation:
- Questrom School of Business Lobby, 595 Commonwealth Avenue: 7AM-10PM
- Center for Data and Computing Sciences Lobby, 665 Commonwealth Avenue: 7AM-10PM (Card Access after 7PM)
- George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Avenue: 7AM-Midnight
- Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground Lobby, 808 Commonwealth Avenue: 9AM-5PM
- 522 Park Drive Basement Lounge (South Campus Residents Only), 522 Park Drive: 24 hours
- Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering (Summer Program Residents Only), 610 Commonwealth Avenue: 6PM-10PM
- Warren Towers 4th Floor (Summer Program Residents Only), 700 Commonwealth Avenue: 24 hours in the Melville Lounge, B Tower Quiet Study, the MPR room; and the dining hall (4PM-11PM)
BU students, faculty and staff are reminded to take precautions against heat-related illness or injuries. Physical activities or outside work should be limited between 10AM and 3PM and/or when the temperature exceeds 90 degrees. Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. When outside, remember to seek out shaded areas, wear clothing that is light-colored and loose fitting and apply sunscreen.
