Tax Free Ethanol Purchasing Update
Effective April 1st EHS will no longer be distributing tax free ethanol for research purposes at the 650 Albany Street location on the medical campus. Each building now has its own permit, which is on file with the preferred vendors, and can be ordered for delivery by individual departments. Please see information below regarding how to procure tax free ethanol moving forward.
- Tax-free 95% and 100% ethanol alcohol for research purposes may now be purchased by departments for PIs and labs working in buildings that hold permits.
- To order on a tax-free basis, you must use a BU approved vendor for ethanol alcohol (Fisher Scientific and Sigma-Aldrich), the vendor and BU’s Sourcing Department will work together to make sure the proper permit is referenced and on file.
- All Purchases must be placed through Guiding BUying. When placing the order, please select the Category: Supplies-Ethanol (73101607), and GL code: 510040.

- EHS maintains a list alcohol permits for each permitted building as well as the current purchase limits. If you need this information, please reach out to EHS.
