The Boston University Marine Program: Fred Lang Memorial Lecture in Marine Science

  • Starts: 6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2014
  • Ends: 8:30 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2014
The BU Marine Program Fred Lang Memorial Lecture in Marine Science, "Caught in the Same Net: The Ocean & Us", featuring Carl Safina from the Blue Ocean Institute. Carl Safina's work explores how human dignity and the survival of the natural world are increasingly intertwined. His work probes not only the science but also the ethics of our moment with nature. About the lecture: Dr. Frederick Lang was a neurobiologist with the Boston University Marine Program at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, who was killed tragically in an automobile accident in December 1978. A memorial fund was established in his memory, which was used to bring in internationally recognized neurobiologists for summer lectures from 1979-2005. The BU Marine Program is honored to restart the annual tradition, inviting prominent marine scientists to Boston University to speak to our students, alumni, academic partners and colleagues. The event is not open to the public.
