BU D&I Now Hiring Learning & Training Facilitation Fellow

September 27, 2021 — Boston University Diversity & Inclusion (BU D&I) seeks a motivated, organized, and reliable Learning and Training – Facilitation Fellow to join the team in this inaugural role. The Fellow must be a current BU graduate, or professional student from any degree program. With mentorship and guidance from the BU D&I Learning and Training Director and BU D&I L&T Specialist, the successful candidate will primarily manage and facilitate training sessions and workshops for the BU’s audience, including staff, faculty, and students. Because this position is new, we will also look to the Fellow to assist in guiding the development of the program for the future. The BU D&I Learning & Training Facilitation Fellow will gain first-hand experience in assessing learning needs, researching, designing and managing training materials, and facilitating dialogues for equity, inclusion, and justice. The Fellow will also gain experience working closely with the Director of Learning and Training, the Learning and Training Specialist, and a team of D&I-focused professionals. 

The position will start as soon as possible in fall 2021 and will continue throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. Remote work flexibility will be available after January 2022. The BU D&I Learning and Training Facilitation Fellowship Program position offers $20/hour for 13 hours per week. A consistent work schedule is preferred, but hours and compensation are flexible.  

Primary responsibilities include:  

  • Facilitate D&I training sessions and workshops for staff, faculty, and students in partnership with Learning & Training staff 
  • Planning monthly training calendar and setting invitations using specific events software 
  • Update learning and training session database 
  • Update training materials according to audience’s feedback 
  • Research on the latest conversations and training contents in diversity and inclusion in society and higher education   
  • Actively participate in and contribute thoughtful feedback during meetings  

  A qualified candidate should have:  

  • Experience in facilitating adult dialogues about topics related to equity, inclusion, and social justice 
  • Able to work collaboratively and navigate across different hierarchical levels   
  • Familiar or experienced with the following tools and platforms:  
    • Microsoft Office Suite (ie. Word, Powerpoint, Excel, OneDrive) 
    • Events management applications (ie. Zkipster) 
  • Passionate and committed to supporting our shared vision of a diverse, inclusive, and equitable BU  
  • Experience in participating in or leading a diverse and inclusive community space or organization 
  • Interest in expanding their/her/his professional learning and training experience  
  • Interest in contributing to the direction and development of the BU D&I Learning and Training Facilitator Fellowship Program
