Dr. Mehra is Professor and Chair of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM). He graduated as valedictorian from both, King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, India, and from the Doctor of Dental Medicine program at GSDM. Dr. Mehra completed his OMS residency from the combined training program between Boston University and Tufts University. Following graduation, he completed a fellowship in Maxillofacial Reconstructive and Esthetic Surgery under the tutelage of Dr. Larry Wolford at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. His clinical interests include surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, and complex functional and esthetic facial reconstruction including Orthognathic, TMJ, and Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Mehra is the editor of three textbooks and has over 100 publications in scientific journals and textbooks. He is frequently invited to lecture at national and international meetings. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Dr. Mehra represented Massachusetts as a delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) from 2009-2025, and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of AAOMS. He has served as a Consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and is a past member of the CODA OMS Residency Review Committee.  He is Past President of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Society of TMJ Surgeons.
