School Gains BOV Member with Cook’s Retirement
Dr. Marvin Cook, Boston University’s former vice president for planning, budgeting, and information, last month set aside his balance sheet after exactly thirty years and one month of service to the school.
"They were three decades in which the university has grown exponentially," says Dean Spencer N. Frankl. "Marvin has played a major role in that growth."
Dr. Cook has equal esteem for the dental school, in part due to his past role as BUSDM ‘s chief operating officer.
"If all of BU had the leadership, faculty, staff, and vitality of the dental school," he says, "BU would be where President Brown wants to take us in the next five years."
Cook has also worked in the offices of analytical services, space planning, personnel, budget, and development, and as the compliance officer for enacting the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) at BU.
With his retirement from the university, BUSDM loses an ally and advocate. However, we also gain an important one: Dr. Cook has been appointed a member of BUSDM ‘s Board of Visitors.
