How did you find community at BU?

As a Latina who is a child of immigrants, organizations on campus like Alianza Latina and Migration Tales allowed me to meet people within my community and feel much more at home. Surrounding myself with people who share the same background as me but are still very unique with different aspirations is inspiring and pushes me to work harder every day.

What inspired you to get involved with the CSC?

I’ve always been involved in community service, so continuing to do it in college was a no-brainer! As a Hispanic, low-income, first-generation student, I’ve always wanted to help and connect with communities who went through the same struggles as me. Volunteering and working with organizations and services has always been a big part of my life.

What does service mean to you?

Giving back to your community and working with its people to improve the health and happiness of both these people and our planet.
