deneen zarada Community Service Memorial Fund

The deneen zarada Community Service Fund was created by friends and family in 2019 to honor deneen zarada, who graduated from Boston University in 2002. As a student, deneen helped foster a vibrant community on-campus and inspired those around her to get involved and make a difference in the community. This memorial fund honors deneen’s commitment to and service and ensures that BU students have access to the Community Service Center’s programs, regardless of their financial situation.

Our goal is to raise $65,000 over the next few years to fund scholarships for the CSC’s Alternative Service Breaks (ASB) program. Alternative Service Breaks is a weeklong volunteer opportunity during spring break that brings BU students and community members together through service. Through the program, volunteers build genuine connections between fellow program participants and their host community, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, diversity, intentional service, and a deeper understanding of social justice.

The Community Service Center wants to make it possible for every student to participate in ASB, no matter their ability to pay. By making a gift to the deneen zarada Community Service Fund, you will help service-minded students access the program and make a difference in communities across the US.

Thank you for supporting the Community Service Center and for investing in the next generation of change-makers!
