Warren Towers Renovation Construction Update – 8/22/2025
General Project Information
- The first weekday work shift will begin at 7:00 am and end at approximately 3:30 pm, with the second shift beginning at 3:00 pm and ending at 11:00 pm, and the third shift starting at 11:00 pm and ending at 7:00 am. Weekend shifts will start at 7:00 am and end at 4:00 pm.
- The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.

During the Weekend of 8/23
Exterior Work- Tower A
4th-Floor Podium Roofs
- Crews will use the low roofs as a laydown area for tools, supplies and materials.
East and West Façades
- Crews will work on the low roofs, east and west of Tower A.
- Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.

- Masons will continue with their exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, new lintels, and relieving angles.
Front Façade and on Commonwealth Avenue
- Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
- Masons will continue with their exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, new lintels, and relieving angles.
Rear Façade and Back Alley
- Crews will continue installing overhead protection, staging, shoring, and stair components in the South Alley.
- Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
- Masons will continue with their exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, new lintels, and relieving angles.
Upper Roof
- Crews will be installing temporary roofing.
- Crews will continue installing steel stub columns and supports for the new penthouse and roof screening.
- Crews will continue assembling the new parapet.

West Podium and Terrace Roofs
- Crews will continue installing temporary roofing membrane.
Multipurpose Room Roof
- Crews will continue constructing the new boiler room.

- Masons will continue constructing the new CMU parapet walls.
Cummington Mall
(In and around the fenced area)
- There will be daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials to be received at the construction loading dock.
- The 2-car personnel and materials hoist way operations are underway.
Hinsdale Mall
- There will not be work on the street, in order to facilitate undergraduate move-in weekend.
- The loading dock has been reopened for deliveries and services. The, east exit of the parking garage remains closed; however, the west exit will remain open.
Interior Work
Tower A
- Crews will continue demolition work and will load debris into hampers and transport it to be emptied into dumpsters (located in the construction loading dock).
- Abatement is ongoing; debris is loaded into trailers located in the construction loading dock.
- Crews will continue grinding the floor slab.
- Survey crews are working on setting up benchmarks and lay out points on each floor.
- Crews will continue the interior framing of window openings on levels 15 through 18.
- Crews will continue cutting the concrete slab edge at every window opening.

- Crews will continue installing structural steel reinforcement and beam penetrations.
- Crews will continue working on the interior framing of window openings.

- Crews will be installing fire protection, sprinkler risers, and mains.
- Crews will be conducting rough work on HVAC piping and ductwork.

- Crews will continue the installation of structural steel clips, plates, kickers and beam penetrations.
Parking Garage
- There will not be work in the parking garage, in order to facilitate undergraduate move-in weekend. You can read more about the changes and updates to traffic patterns here.
During the Week of 8/25
Exterior Work- Tower A

- The team will participate in daily contractor meetings to review site safety, logistics, and the code of conduct.
Hinsdale Mall
- Summer road work has concluded, and the road is back open for normal traffic patterns.
- The loading dock has been reponed for deliveries and services.
Interior Work
Tower A
- Crews will continue demolition work and will load debris into hampers and transport it to be emptied into dumpsters (located in the construction loading dock).
- Abatement is ongoing; debris is loaded into trailers located in the construction loading dock.

Parking Garage
- Crews are constructing the temporary bike storage room.

- Electricians will be running temporary power wiring and conduits throughout the parking garage, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Plumbers are installing new water and drain lines in the basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Crews will continue constructing the new fuel storage room in the Southeast basement level of the parking garage. The tank is scheduled to be installed mid-week.
- Crews will conduct miscellaneous concrete structural repairs on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels of the parking garage.

- Crews will continue sprinkler work on all levels.
- Please watch for adjusted parking patterns, cones and observe site signage.
Off Site
- Crews are building detailed interior mockups of bathrooms and student rooms to work through each step for schedule efficiencies and constructability.

Future/Notable Tasks
- Crews will conduct reoccurring crane work on Cummington Mall west in the coming weeks.
- Crews will begin constructing the new Parking and Transportation offices.
