Warren Towers Renovation Construction Update – 8/1/2025
General Project Information
- The first weekday work shift will begin at 7:00 am and end at approximately 3:30 pm, with the second shift beginning at 3:00 pm and ending at 11:00 pm, and the third shift starting at 11:00 pm and ending at 7:00 am. Weekend shifts will start at 7:00 am and end at 4:00 pm.
- The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.

Exterior Work- Tower A
4th-Floor Podium Roofs
- Crews will use the low roofs as a laydown area for tools, supplies and materials.
East and West Façades
- Crews will work on the low roofs, east and west of Tower A.
- Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
- Masons will continue with their exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, new lintels, and relieving angles.
- Crews will begin framing the exterior of window openings and trim receivers.
Front Façade and on Commonwealth Avenue
- Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
- Masons will continue with their exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, new lintels, and relieving angles.

Rear Façade and Back Alley
- Crews will continue installing overhead protection, staging, shoring, and stair components in the South Alley.
- Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
- Masons will continue with their exterior brick veneer restoration work, selective demolition, installation of restoration anchors, new lintels, and relieving angles.
Upper Roof
- Crews will begin removing the existing rubber roof membrane and begin installing insulation.
- Crews will begin installing steel stub columns and supports for the new penthouse and roof screening.

- Crews will begin the application of AVB on the new CMU parapets.
West Podium and Terrace Roofs
- Crews will begin installing temporary roofing membrane.
- Masons will begin constructing the new CMU parapet walls.

Cummington Mall
(In and around the fenced area)
- There will be daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials to be received at the construction loading dock.
- The 2-car personnel and materials hoist way operations are underway.
- The team will participate in daily contractor meetings to review site safety, logistics, and the code of conduct.
- The Hub Foundations Co. will continue installing the Tower B hoist way and common tower foundation piles.
- A portion of Cummington Mall is now closed. Please observe site signage and BUPD detail instructions.
Hinsdale Mall
- The stormwater recharge system has been backfilled.

- Crews will begin installing the new grease trap system, and underground tanks will be set on a concrete base pad within the excavation.
- A portion of Hinsdale Mall is now closed, including the loading dock and east exit of the parking garage. The west exit of the parking garage will remain open.
Exterior Work- Tower B
4th-Floor Podium Roofs
(East and West Facade)
- Crews will be installing weather protection at the east and west staging support steel connections to Tower B.
Interior Work
Tower A
- Crews will continue demolition work and will load debris into hampers and transport it to be emptied into dumpsters (located in the construction loading dock).
- The incinerator haft demolition is near completion.
- Crews will continue grinding the floor slab.

- Crews will continue cutting the concrete slab edge at every window opening.
- Crews will continue installing structural steel reinforcement and beam penetrations.
- Crews will continue with the interior partition layout.
Dining Hall
- Temporary protections will begin being removed, and crews will begin with the final cleaning.
- Crews will continue with patching and painting the drywall.

4th-Floor Podium Level
(Corridors, security areas, study areas, and the multipurpose room)
- Crews are reworking and relocating the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Crews will continue taping and painting the drywall.
- Crews will continue working from east to west to install the acoustical ceiling grid and tile.
Parking Garage
- Electricians will be running temporary power wiring and conduits throughout the parking garage.
- Plumbers are installing new water and drain lines in the basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.
- Crews will continue constructing the new fuel storage room in the Southeast basement level of the parking garage.
- Crews will conduct miscellaneous concrete structural repairs on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels of the parking garage.

- Crews will continue sprinkler work on all levels.
- Please watch for adjusted parking patterns, cones and observe site signage.

- A Boston Police Detail will be onsite for vehicle and pedestrian Traffic.
Interior Work
Tower A
- Crews will continue demolition work and will load debris into hampers and transport it to be emptied into dumpsters (located in the construction loading dock).
- Abatement is ongoing; debris is loaded into trailers located in the construction loading dock.
- Crews are nearly completed with the incinerator haft demolition.

- Crews will continue grinding the floor slab.
- Crews will continue cutting the concrete slab edge at every window opening.
- Crews will continue installing structural steel reinforcement and beam penetrations.
- Crews will continue working on the interior partition layout.
Dining Hall

- Crews will begin paving on Hinsdale Mall.
