Warren Towers Renovation Construction Update – 6/13/2025

General Project Information

  • The first weekday work shift will begin at 7:00 am and end at approximately 3:30 pm, with the second shift beginning at 3:00 pm and ending at 11 pm. Weekend shifts will start at 7:00 am and end at 4:00 pm. 
  • The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.

During the Weekend of 6/13

No work to take place Sunday 6/15 

Exterior Work- Tower A

East and West Façades

  • Crews will work on the low roofs, east and west of Tower A.
  • Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
  • Masons will begin brick veneer restoration work, washdown, selective demolition, and working on restoration anchors.

Front Façade and on Commonwealth Avenue

  • Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
  • Masons will begin brick veneer restoration work, washdown, selective demolition, and working on restoration anchors.

Rear Façade and Back Alley

  • Crews will continue installing overhead protection, staging, shoring, and stair components in the South Alley on basement and 1st-floor levels.
  • Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
  • Masons will continue with brick veneer restoration work, washdown, selective demolition, and working on restoration anchors.

Upper Roof

  • Crews will continue the abatement and demolition of the mechanical penthouse.

Exterior Work- Tower B

4th-Floor Podium Roofs
(East and West Facade) 

  • Crews will work on installing staging on the low roofs, east and west of Tower B.

West Podium and Terrace Roofs

  • Crews will continue abatement demolition on the west terrace. Crews will utilize a crane to hoist demolition debris down to dumpsters, which will be located on the west side of Cummington Mall.

Hinsdale Mall

  • Crews have begun phase 1 of the new grease trap and storm water retention system evacuation. A portion of Hinsdale Mall is now closed, including the loading dock and east exit of the parking garage. The west exit of the parking garage will remain open.

Interior Work

Tower A

  • Crews will continue their make safe electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work on all floors.
  • Crews will continue demolition work and will load debris into hampers and transport it to be emptied into dumpsters (located in the construction loading dock).

Dining Hall

  • Temporary protections are in place.
  • Crews are reworking and relocating the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

4th-Floor Podium Level
(Corridors, security areas, study areas, and the multipurpose room)

  • Temporary protections are in place.
  • Crews are reworking and relocating the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, and installing new ones.

Parking Garage

  • Electricians will be running temporary power wiring and conduits throughout the parking garage.
  • HVAC teams will continue working in and around the temporary electric room on the first floor.
  • Crews have begun demolition on HVAC piping and ductwork.
  • Plumbers will install new water and drain lines in the basement level.
  • Crews will continue demolition and excavation in the southeast basement level of the parking garage, in order to build a new fuel storage tank room.
  • The Existing Bike Storage room is demolished and has been closed. Crews are working on structural concrete repairs in this area.
  • Crews will conduct miscellaneous concrete structural repairs on the 1st and 2nd levels of the parking garage.
  • Crews will continue sprinkler work on all levels.
  • Crews will continue reinforcing structural steel work, and in installing horizontal tub steel and angles on the south wall of the 2nd-floor. Please watch for adjusted parking patterns, cones and observe site signage.

During the Week of 6/16

Exterior Work- Tower A

4th-Floor Podium Roofs

Front Façade and on Commonwealth Avenue

  • Crews will continue abatement demolition, working in a top-down sequence.
  • Masons will begin brick veneer restoration work, washdown, selective demolition, and working on restoration anchors.

  • Crews will work from swing staging to create openings in the brick veneer to install staging tie backs.

  • Crews will continue abatement demolition on the west terrace. Crews will utilize a crane to hoist demolition debris down to dumpsters, which will be located on the west side of Cummington Mall.

Cummington Mall
(In and around the fenced area)

  • There will be daily deliveries of tools, supplies, and materials to be received at the construction loading dock.

  • The 2-car personnel and materials hoist way operations are underway.
  • The team will participate in daily contractor meetings to review site safety, logistics, and the code of conduct.
  • A portion of Cummington Mall is now closed. Please observe site signage and BUPD detail instructions.
  • Hub Foundations will begin installing the Tower B hoist way and common tower foundation piles.

Hinsdale Mall
