Warren Towers Renovation – Construction Update – 2/21/2025
General Project Information
- Work on the exterior, outside student rooms, will be performed from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
- Deliveries, work on the street level, and work inside the fenced construction area will begin at 7:00 am.
- The team is currently in the main renovation phase of the project.

Saturday, 2/22
No work to take place on Sunday, 2/23
Front Façade (Commonwealth Avenue)
- Crews will continue installing staging and shoring components on top of the overhead protection platform.
Rear Façade and Back Alley
- Crews will continue installing overhead protection, shoring towers, and scaffolding at the rear alley behind the building.
- There will be intermittent drilling noise due to crews working on scaffolding connections to the build.
4th-Floor Podium Roofs
- Crews will continue working on the staging support steel at the low roofs (east and west of Tower A) adjacent to student rooms. For privacy, please keep blinds, drapes, and window treatments closed.
Cummington Mall
- Crews will continue assembly work of the bridge over 111 Cummington Mall.
- The south sidewalk will always remain open; please observe site signage.
During the Week of 2/17
Exterior Work
4th-Floor Podium Roofs
- Crews will continue working on the staging support steel at the low roofs (east and west of Tower A) adjacent to student rooms. For privacy, please keep blinds, drapes, and window treatments closed.
Front Façade and on Commonwealth Avenue
- Crews will be installing stairs, staging, and shoring components on top of the overhead protection platform.
- Crews will be installing a roof membrane on the overhead platform to minimize dripping.
- The Bluebike station will be relocated across the street on Tuesday, 2/25.
- Crews will be using trash chutes and a dump truck to remove snow on each end of the overhead protection.
- There will be intermittent drilling noise due to crews working on scaffolding connections to the build.
Rear Façade and Back Alley
- Crews will continue installing overhead protection, shoring towers, and scaffolding at the rear alley behind the building.
- There will be intermittent drilling noise due to crews working on scaffolding connections to the build.

- Working from swing stagings suspended from the roof, crews will connect stagging support beams and bracing to the South facade of the building. The welding required for this work will produce some smoke and odors, please close your window during the day.

- South Alley will always remain open for pedestrian foot traffic. This provides access to 111 Cummington Mall and is a good alternative to avoid the congestion of the Cummington Mall construction zone.
Cummington Mall
- There will be daily deliveries of scaffolding materials.
- Crews will continue their construction of the Tower A hoist way elevator and common tower.

- Crews will continue assembly work of the bridge over 111 Cummington Mall.
- The south sidewalk will always remain open; please observe site signage.
Interior Work
Towers
- To inspect cables, ropes, and electrical cords, teams will access the rooftop of Tower A at the beginning and end of the day shift.
Parking Garage
- Framing, drywall, and doors will be installed in the temporary electric room on the 1st floor.
- Crews will begin working on sprinklers in the temporary electric service area.
- Crews will investigate low voltage wiring on the basement level.
- Crews will be waterproofing a section of the concrete floor on the 2nd level of the parking garage.

Future/Notable Tasks
- Saturday, 3/1, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm crews will load the east and west side of the Tower A podium roofs with scaffolding material. Hinsdale Mall will be closed from the parking garage exit to Cummington Mall; the west exit will remain open. Please observe site signage.
