Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 07/07/23
General Project Information
Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 3 pm.(6 am for interior work per ISD permit)
The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a“no parking zone”.This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.
The screen wall installation on the mechanical roof is ongoing.
During the Weekend of July 8th
Consigli: 2 workers on site providing site supervision.
Mass Acoustics: 4 workers taping in the recycling rooms and working on framing and sheet rocking the fan coil enclosures.
SOS: 2 workers performing demolition in the west alley for a new areaway platform.
Murphy Electric:6 workers completing punch list items, working on finishes on floors 1 and 9, performing fire alarm troubleshooting, and wiring HVAC equipment on level 9.
Royal Steam: 6 people installing the recycling room exhaust riser and completing finishes and continuing runtal unit piping on level 9.
Titan: 4 workers starting work on the removal and replacement of the 2nd-floor back roof.
Egan Painting: 4 people painting on levels 1 and 9.
Riggs: 4 laborers cleaning throughout.
During the Week of July 10th
On level 9, Royal Steam HVAC will be continuing with finishes, installing thermostats, and finish piping of the runtal units. The duct crew will finish the recycling alcove exhaust riser.
Murphy Electric will continue with light fixture installation, devicing, and finishes on levels 1 and 9. The team will also be completing the Boston Fire punch list and readiness for final fire alarm testing.
Mass Acoustics to start closing up the recycling room exhaust enclosures.
LRS back on site to install the remaining lights on the 8th floor.
Titan will continue with the 2nd-floor low roof removal and replacement.
JC Floors installing flooring on levels 9 and 8. They will start on dorm room corridors towards the end of the week.
Riggs masonry will continue work on the 2nd-floor lower roof parapet.
Egan Paint to continue painting at the fan coil enclosures and finish final painting on floors 1 and 9.
Architectural team to continue with punch list items on all floors.
Consigli/Riggs team on site for cleaning, site support, and supervision.
