Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 06/30/23
General Project Information
Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 3 pm.(6 am for interior work per ISD permit)
The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a“no parking zone”.This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.

During the Weekend of July 1st
Consigli: 2 workers on site providing site supervision.
Mass Acoustics:6 workers taping in the recycling rooms, and working on framing and sheet rocking the fan coil enclosures.
SOS: 2 workers performing demolition in the west alley for a new areaway platform.
Murphy Electric:6 workers installing light fixtures on level 9 and finishing devices on levels 1 and 9, pending results from the “Lights Out” generator test.
Royal Steam: 8 people working on the louver install and exhaust ductwork at the fire pump room, diffusers/grilles, and runtal units on level 9.
Titan: 4 workers installing the southwest mechanical roof membrane and starting work on the removal of the 2nd-floor back roof.
Egan Painting: 6 people completing punchlist items in the southwest renovation areas and applying the prime coat in the recycling alcoves and fan coil enclosures.
Riggs:6 laborers cleaning throughout but focusing on cleaning out the 8th floor and areaways in the west alley. Two carpenters installing screens and screen walls.
During the Week of July 3rd
The site will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.
BrandSafway to continue with scaffold removal on the west side of the building.
Royal Steam HVAC continuing with work in the level 9 mechanical room, VRF system condenser piping, and completion of wall-mounted units.
Murphy Electric to continue with light fixture installation on levels 1 and 9, along with devicing and finishes on those levels.
Mass Acoustics to continue working on the fan coil unit enclosures at the old fire escape rooms, taping at the recycling rooms, and miscellaneous drywall patching throughout.
Titan working on metal panel detailing on the southwest roof area and finishing the southwest mechanical roofing membrane.
JC Floors to start flooring substrate and wood flooring on the 9th floor and continuing carpeting on the dorm rooms on floors 4 and 5.
Riggs masonry to continue work on 2nd-floor low roof parapet.
Egan Paint to continue patching, taping and painting on floors 1 through 9.
Consigli/Riggs team on site for cleaning, site support, and supervision.
