Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 10/7/22

During the weekend of October 8th

  • On Saturday, crews will continue the installation of finishes around the atrium’s monumental stair and tower’s communicating stair on the interior of the building. The installation of carpet and ceiling will continue in the tower. Painting of the stairs and walls will continue throughout. Roofing and green terrace materials will continue to be installed.
  • At the exterior of the building, installation of landscape site features, curbing, and sidewalk continues. Final details continue on the underside of the soffits.
  • Depending on workforce availability, crews may return to the site on Sunday to continue installing Stair D and Stair F elements.
  • Deliveries for miscellaneous materials will also occur throughout the day.

During the week of October 10th

  • Due to the holiday, on site activity will be limited on Monday.
  • Crews continue installing finish wall panels and the ceilings around the atrium.
  • Installation of finishes will continue throughout, including whiteboards, corner guards, cabinetry, wood and acoustic ceilings, interior glass walls, doors, final paint, polishing concrete floors, office carpet, and plumbing fixtures.
  • The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of the finishes for elevator cab 5.
  • Installation of the green roof material and pavers continues on the terraces.
  • Exterior site work continues on all sides of the building, and preparations for new sidewalks continue along Commonwealth Avenue. The retaining wall, ramp, stair, and planter install continues at the rear of the Bay State Road brownstones. The bike shelter will be assembled in the area between Sargent College and the building.
  • Deliveries and assembly of office furniture will continue, working from the lower floors up.
  • The sidewalk and ramp at the rear entrance to Sargent College will be demolished and replaced.
  • The project will continue utilizing a second shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday to advance interior work, accommodate off-hour deliveries and material loading, and debris removal. Select subcontractors will continue working on the third shift, from 11 pm to 7 am, to advance the start-up and testing of building systems while the workforce is lighter than during normal business hours.
  • Please be aware in addition to daily deliveries, trucks with large trailers will be staged adjacent to and moving around the site and pedestrians should be aware of all safety and directional signage in the areas as pedestrian and vehicle travel paths may be altered.
Installation of office furniture has begun on the 7th floor.
