Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 8/12/22
During the weekend of August 13th
On Saturday, crews will be working on the exterior of the building from the elevated platforms to continue installing panels at the 5th and 17th-floor soffits. The site contractor and landscaper will continue the installation of the retaining wall, ramp, and planting beds between the building and the Bay State brownstones.
Also on Saturday, installation of the atrium’s monumental stair and tower’s communicating stair will continue on the interior of the building. Removal of the scaffolding above the sit-step will continue. Framing, hanging, and finishing drywall will continue in the tower. Crews from the mechanical and electrical subcontractors will be on site continuing the connections, startup, and finish device of their respective systems.
A second shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm with be utilized on Saturday to continue installation of stair D in the atrium.
On Sunday, crews will return to the site to continue installing Stair D and Stair F elements.
Deliveries for miscellaneous materials will also occur throughout the day.

During the week of August 15th
At the atrium, crews continue to install stone treads and risers for the monumental stair. Framing for the finish wall paneling will continue.
On the ground floor, the installation of stone flooring will progress from the podium into the atrium and the tower.
Installation of finishes will continue throughout. On the tower’s lower floors and in the podium, the installation of whiteboards, cabinetry, wood, acoustic ceilings, interior glass, and doors continues.
On the tower’s upper floors, ceiling framing, concrete floor polishing, and wall painting continues.
The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of elevators 1, 2, and 3 including constructing the cabs and installing flooring on the north side of the core.
Installation of metal panels will be completed at the soffit on the underside of the 5th floor. Following completion at 5, work will begin on the soffit on the underside of the 7th floor.
Installation of the green roofing system continues on the 5th and 6th floors.
Installation of the guardrail’s components of Stair F, the communicating stair, is underway.
Exterior site work continues on all sides of the building, including preparations for new sidewalks along Commonwealth Avenue, and retaining wall, ramp, stair, and planter installation at the rear of the Bay State Road brownstones.
Crews will continue working on the east side of Granby Street. This includes the installation of streetlight pole bases, landscape planters, and granite curbing. Parking along the west side of Granby Street has been removed to allow two lanes of vehicular access during this site work. The pedestrian sidewalk on the west side of Granby Street remains open and accessible.
The project will continue utilizing a second shift from 3 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday to continue interior work, and accommodate off-hour deliveries, material loading, and debris removal.
Please be aware in addition to daily deliveries, trucks with large trailers will be staged adjacent to and moving around the site and pedestrians should be aware of all safety and directional signage in the areas as pedestrian and vehicle travel paths may be altered.

Upcoming Crane work at the Center for Computing & Data Sciences during the weekend of August 20th to impact access to/from area parking lots and roadways
As part of the ongoing construction, Granby Street will be closed on August 20th and 21st to enable a large mobile crane to be set up. The crane will hoist roofing material to the tower’s upper levels.
The entire operation will last from early Saturday, August 20th, to 6 pm on Sunday, August 21st. Granby Street will be closed for the duration of the operation. To construct the jib for the crane, it will have to be laid down on Granby Street, running south to north and the portion of Bay State Road that runs to the west of Granby Street will be closed.
As a result, no vehicular access or through traffic will be permitted to and from the following parking lots, areas, and roadways west of Bay State Road at Granby Street from 11 PM Friday, August 19th, until 6 am Saturday, August 20th, (7 hours) and again from 11 pm Saturday, August 20th, until 6 pm Sunday, August 21st, (19 hours).
