Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 07/22/22
During the weekend of July 23rd
On Saturday, crews will be working from the elevated platforms to continue the installation of panels at the 5th and 17th-floor soffits.
Also on Saturday, installation of the atrium’s monumental stair and tower’s communicating stair will continue in the interior of the building. Framing, hanging, and finishing drywall will continue in the tower. Crews from the mechanical and electrical subcontractors will be on site continuing the connections and startup of their respective systems.
Deliveries for miscellaneous materials will occur throughout the day.

During the week of July 25th
At the atrium, crews continue to install the guardrails for the monumental stair. Installation of mechanical systems and the atrium’s ceiling will continue.
On the ground floor, wall framing and installing drywall will continue.
Installation of finishes will continue on floors 2 through 6. Installation of the whiteboards in the classrooms will continue. Installation of lockers will continue on the lower level. Millwork cabinetry and finish wall paneling installation will continue. Painting, ceiling panel installation, and polishing of the concrete floors will continue. Interior glass partitions and doors will be installed at offices.
Installation of the wood panel ceiling system will continue on the second floor above the sit step.
The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of elevators 1, 2, and 3 including construction of the cabs on the north side of the core.
Installation of the roofing system at the terraces will continue with the installation of the parapet metal coping. Green roofing preparations continue on the 7th level terrace. Roofing installation continues at the 15th-floor terrace. Installation of the metal roofing system on the 20th floor continues.
Framing and metal panel installation continues at the soffit on the underside of the 5th and 17th floors.
Installation continues with the structural components of Stair F, the communicating stair connecting the tower’s 5th through 17th floors. This will be followed by the railing and facia installation.
On the exterior, preparations continue along Commonwealth Avenue ahead of the placement of the new concrete sidewalk.
In the alleyway between the building and the Bay State Road brownstones, work will continue on concrete walls, steps, and planter placements.
Crews will continue working on the east side of Granby Street. The fence line has moved west to allow for this site work activity. This includes the installation of streetlight pole bases, landscape planter concrete work ahead of curb resetting, and the bike lane and sidewalk layout. Parking along the west side of Granby Street has been removed to allow two lanes of vehicular access during this site work. The pedestrian sidewalk on the west side of Granby Street remains open and accessible.
The project will continue utilizing a second shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday to continue interior work, accommodate off-hour deliveries and material loading, and trash removal.
In early August, a large mobile crane will be set up in Granby Street to hoist roofing material to the upper levels of the tower. This activity will occur on a weekend and result in the closure of Granby Street between Bay State Road and Comm Avenue. More details will be provided as the date approaches.
Please be aware in addition to daily deliveries, trucks with large trailers will be staged adjacent to and moving around the site and pedestrians should be aware of all safety and directional signage in the areas as pedestrian and vehicle travel paths may be altered.
