Traffic Management Plan
Saturday, June 25th
Work hours are 7 am – 3:30 pm.
Now that the fire escape has been removed, BrandSafway will have 12-15 crew members on site erecting scaffolding along the west elevation in the alleyway heading north.
SOS Corp will have crew members on site continuing with the saw cutting of slab penetrations for the new exhaust risers and select partition demo in the vicinity of the new elevator bank.
Consigli Construction will have staff onsite for job site supervision.
During the week of June 27th
BrandSafway will continue with scaffold erection at the west elevation in the alleyway heading north.
Riggs Masonry will continue work on the east and southeast elevations, performing demolition of window headers and building corners in preparation for restoration.
Riggs Masonry will continue with new lintel installation and waterproofing details at window headers throughout the west and east elevations.
Costello Dismantling to continue with fire escape removal on the east of the building, this task should be completed early next week.
SOS Corp will continue with slab penetrations for new bathroom exhaust risers at stacks D and E.
SOS Corp will continue with select demolition in the vicinity of the new bank of elevators and stairwell, working top floors down.
SOS Corp and Costello Dismantling continue abatement and demolition on the 9th floor.
Vertex Companies will be on site performing air monitoring of these activities.
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors continue to work on make safe of existing building services in the vicinity of work areas.
These contractors will also be working together on any coordination of existing services in conflict with the new bathroom exhaust riser work.
Murphy Electric and Cogswell Sprinkler continue with temp fire protection measures.
Royal Steam (mechanical contractors) will continue with prep and installation of new exhaust duct risers.
Royal Steam (plumbing) will be re-piping the existing vent lines in B and C stack as well as performing select demolition to enable new work.
Mass Acoustics (metal stud and drywall) to start working on shaft wall construction as made available.
Scaffolding at the south elevation is near completion.
General Project Information
Daily work hours are from 7 am – 3:30 pm.
The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department. (See the above plan included for updates that will start going into effect towards the end of June)

Step 2 – Paint/relocate bicycle lane in front of Kilachand Hall
Step 3 – Jersey barrier placement and site containment
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a no-parking zone. This will continue for the duration of the project to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street, and allow for the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.
Kilachand Hall will be unoccupied until August 19th, 2022 while construction gets underway. There will be no access to anyone other than the project team and BU trade shops. August 19th is the start of RA move-ins for the fall semester, August 29th is the campus-wide move-in date.
