Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 05/27/22
During the week of May 30th
The traffic management plan is being reviewed by the City of Boston.
In the interim, the meters in front of Kilachand Hall will be reserved for construction as needed.
The accessible parking spaces will remain in place.
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street will be taken offline for the duration of construction. This is to maintain the existing driving lane on Back Street and allows for the construction team to safely contain the back side of the building.
Scaffold erection to continue with the east side elevation in the alley and the south-facing elevations both east and west of front entrance.
Scrim (mesh protection) installation to begin on east elevation.
Riggs masonry will continue work on the west and southwest elevation, performing select demolition of window headers and building corners.
SOS Corporation Construction Services (SOS Corp), performing demolition work at the site, will be working to get exhaust duct riser shaft locations ready for the mechanical team.
Interior carpentry crew will build construction barriers containing work zone for elevator and stairwell construction (top floor to bottom).
SOS Corp will perform select demolition in the vicinity of the new bank of elevators and the stairwell, starting on the 8th floor and working down.
Removal of cast stone lintels for restoration replacement.
