Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 04/15/22
During the weekend of April 16th
There will be no work on site.
Installing guardrails on the communicating stair from the second to third floors.
During the week of April 18th
On Monday, due to the Patriot’s Day holiday, there will be no work on site that day.
Installation of curtain wall panels at the tower has been mostly complete, this operation will now infill the various leave-out locations throughout the building.
Finished will continue to be installed in the sub-basement and lower level with installation of flooring, framing of ceilings, installation of the raised flooring system in the classrooms, and painting throughout.
On floors 2 through 5, crews will continue finishing walls, polishing concrete floors, framing ceilings, and installing tile and plumbing fixtures in the bathrooms.
On floors 6 through 12, framing walls and hanging drywall is underway. Installation of above-ceiling and in-wall mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection rough for their respective systems.
On the 14th and 15th floors, crews will be applying an intumescent coating to the steel columns.
Installation of the atrium’s monumental stair will continue. The section connecting the ground and second floors will be rigged and welded into place. Installation of guardrails will continue.
The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of elevators 1, 2, and 3 on the north side of the tower’s core. Installation of elevator cabs and final adjustments continue at podium elevators 7 and 8.
Installation of the roofing system at the terraces will continue with the focus being on the 15th and 17th-floor terraces.
Crews will continue working from the elevated deck constructing the soffit at the underside of the 10th floor along Commonwealth Avenue and the underside of the 12th floor along Granby Street.
At the corner of Bay State Road and Granby St, crews will complete installation of the storm drainage system and backfill the area.
Trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
Grinding the 4th-floor concrete slab in preparation for the polish finish.
