Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 03/25/22
During the weekend of March 26th
On Saturday, crews from the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) trades will be on site continuing installation of their respective systems. Installation of the atrium’s monumental stair will also continue Saturday. Framing, hanging drywall, and finishing walls will continue in the tower. Buildout of the elevator shaft for cars 1, 2, and 3 will continue. Crews will be on site assembling and installing curtain wall panels. Installation of the building’s roofing system will continue.
On Sunday, crews will be on site to continue the installation of the terrace roofing systems.
Assembling scaffolding for a working platform to install devices, equipment, and the ceiling above the sit-step.
During the week of March 28th
Installation of curtain wall panels at the tower will continue on the 18th and 19th floors. Delivery and assembly of the panels before installation will continue on the floors above.
Installation of finishes will continue in the sub-basement and lower level with installation of rubber and tile flooring, framing of ceilings, installation of the raised flooring system in the classrooms, and painting throughout.
On floors 3, 4, and 5, crews will continue finishing walls and framing walls on floors 6, 7, and 8. Concrete polishing continues on floors 3 and 4.
On the 11th floor, crews will be applying an intumescent coating to the steel columns.
On floors 12 through 17, the MEP subcontractors will continue with system rough in, installing electrical conduit, hangers, and piping.
In the mechanical spaces on the 18th and 19th floors, crews will continue installing piping, ductwork, conduit, and wires to the mechanical equipment.
Installation of the atrium’s monumental stairs will continue; the focus for this week will be on the section connecting the 3rd and 4th floors.
The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of elevators 7 and 8 in the podium, along with beginning the buildout of elevators 1, 2, and 3 on the north side of the tower’s core.
Installation of the roofing system at the terraces will continue.
Crews will continue working from the elevated deck to construct the soffit at the underside of the 10th floor along Commonwealth Avenue.
At the former park on the corner of Bay State Road and Granby Street, crews will continue excavation and installation of the storm drainage and geothermal systems.
Trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
