Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 03/18/22
During the weekend of March 19th
On Saturday, crews from the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) subcontractors will be on site continuing the installation of their respective systems. Installation of the atrium’s monumental stair will also continue Saturday. Buildout of the elevator shaft for cars 1, 2, and 3 will continue. Crews will continue to frame and board walls in the tower. Crews will also be on site assembling and installing curtain wall panels. Installation of the building’s roofing system will continue.
Installation of the divider beams at the shaft for cars 1, 2, and 3 will continue Sunday as well.

During the week of March 21st
Installation of curtain wall panels at the tower will continue on the 17th and 18th floors. Delivery and assembly of the panels before installation will continue on the floors above.
Installation of finishes has begun in the sub-basement and lower level with the installation of tile in the bathrooms, polishing of the concrete floors, framing of ceilings, installation of the raised flooring system in the classrooms, and painting throughout.
On floors 4, 5, and 6, crews will continue finishing walls, and framing walls on floors 7 and 8.
On floors 11 and 13, crews will be applying an intumescent coating to the steel columns.
On floors 10 through 17, the MEP subcontractors will continue with system rough in, installing electrical conduit, hangers, and piping.
In the mechanical spaces on the 18th and 19th floors crews will continue installing piping, ductwork, conduit, and wires to the mechanical equipment.
Installation of the atrium’s monumental stairs will continue. The focus for this week will be on the section connecting the third and fourth floors.
The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of elevators 7 and 8 in the podium, along with beginning the build out of elevators 1, 2, and 3.
Installation of the roofing system at the terraces will continue.
Within the alleyway, the site contractor will continue installing geothermal well circuits and utility structures, and piping for the stormwater system.
Crews will continue working from the elevated deck constructing the soffit at the underside of the 10thfloor along Commonwealth Avenue.
Construction activity will pick up at the former park at the corner of Bay State Road. and Granby Street, with the removal of the site trailers followed by excavation for the installation of a portion of the stormwater system.
Trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
