Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 6/25/21
Ongoing steel erection for the 6th floor on the north side of the tower
During the weekend of June 26th
On Saturday, crews will be on site continuing to erect structural steel columns and beams. This work will occur in two shifts, the first from 7 am to 3 pm and the second from 3 pm to 10 pm.
Also on Saturday, during the first shift, between 7 am and 6 pm, crews will be working within the tower’s core continuing set up of the temporary construction hoist.
On Sunday, during the second shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm, electricians will be working within and around the perimeter of the tower’s concrete core to make adjustments to the temporary site lighting.
During the week of June 28th
The erection of the building’s structural steel frame will continue. Starting on Monday, a mobile crane will be on site to begin the erection of the podium portion of the building. This work will also extend daily during a second shift from 3 pm to 10 pm. Two to six tractor-trailers delivering structural steel are expected to be arriving and departing from the site throughout the two shifts daily.
In the tower’s core, installation of steel framing and decking will continue through level 10. Rebar installation and concrete deck placement will follow behind the steel erection operation.
Following last week’s placement of the concrete topping slab in the tower’s subbasement, crews will begin to layout and frame walls.
In the lower level, crews from the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors will continue installing electrical conduits, hangers, and piping for the building systems.
In the alley between the Bay State Road brownstones, excavation will begin for the main storm drainage line. As the mainline is installed connections will be made from the rainwater downspouts for each of the brownstones (#178, #180, #182, and #184) to the storm drainage system. Temporarily the exterior egress path from the rear of the brownstones will be impacted during the day while this activity takes place. The egress path will be restored to a safe and passable condition at the end of each day. Please be aware of all directional signage in the area.
Installation of “Stair A” within the tower’s core will continue with the focus being on the runs from the 4th to 6th floors. Installation will also begin on “Stair B”, located in the tower, north of the core.
In addition to deliveries noted above other trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
Please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. We will continue to provide up-to-date information via these notifications.
