Demobilization of materials and equipment from the concrete operation continues

During the weekend of May 8th

  • Crews will be on site Saturday and Sunday to continue removing equipment and material from the concrete operation and to prepare for the structural steel crew to mobilize to the site on Monday.
  • On Saturday, crews will be rigging and installing the first few sections of the mast and hoist car for the temporary construction hoist that will be set in the subbasement. This hoist will be used to transport construction, personnel, and materials vertically through the building during construction.
  • On Sunday, air handling units 3 and 4 will arrive on site and be placed in the basement of the tower.

During the week of May 10th

  • The next major activity on site will be the formation of the building’s structural steel frame. This operation is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 10th, and will continue for several months. During this time, crews will be working two shifts daily from 7 am – 3 pm and from 3 pm – 10 pm. As this operation begins, trucking activity to and from the site will increase. Two to four tractor trailer loads are expected to arrive and depart daily.
  • Crews will begin installing stair A from the basement to the lower level of the tower’s core. When complete, stair A will run from the basement to the 19th floor.
  • Overhead protection will be installed over the walking path at the rear of the Bay State Road brownstones; it will be similar to the overhead protection that defines the temporary sidewalk along Commonwealth Avenue.
    • Unrelated to the Center for Computing & Data Sciences construction, Eversource will be conducting a service upgrade. This upgrade will require access to a manhole located within the site fence in the alley between Sargent College and the Bay State Road brownstones on Tuesday, May 11th at 11 pm. No disruption in service is anticipated.
    • Please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. We will continue to provide you with up-to-date information via these notifications.
