Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 2/19/21

Continued progress on the tower’s north foundation wall

During the weekend of February 20th

  • Crews will be on site Saturday to begin removing the formwork that was poured with concrete on Thursday from the 3rd floor.
  • Work on reinstalling for the 4th floor pour will begin. Depending on the outcome of Friday’s storm, this activity may be superseded by snow clean up on site. If too much snow accumulates on site, resulting in unsafe working conditions, this activity will not happen.
  • Crews will return to the site on Sunday to make progress on the tower’s core. Similar to Saturday, crews will continue removing and reinstalling the formwork for the next level.

During the week of February 22nd

  • Work on the bike shelter will continue while the final rebar and formwork installation occurs on Monday. The concrete foundation is scheduled to be poured in the first half of the week.
  • At the tower’s core, following last week’s concrete placement of the 3rd floor, the operation will move up to the 4th floor.
  • Crews will continue the installation of rebar and formwork for the remaining section of the tower’s north foundation wall.
  • The installation of waterproofing at the tower’s west foundation wall will continue. Backfilling of these areas will follow as waterproofing is completed.
  • In the podium’s basement, mechanical crews will be installing ductwork and piping. The installation of the stainless-steel ductwork in the duct tunnel will continue along with the installation of plumbing rough for the bathrooms.
  • Please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. We will continue to provide you with up-to-date information via these notifications.
