Goldman School of Dental Medicine – Construction Update – 5/29/20

During the weekend of May 30:

  • There will be no work on the site this weekend.

During the week starting June 1:

  • Work on the decorative planters continues this week at GSDM’s Albany Street entrance, with installation of drainage, backfilling of excavated materials, and waterproofing of the side walls.
  • The sidewalk and steps at the corner of Albany and East Newton Streets remain closed to pedestrians while excavation continues for new sidewalks; these will be formed and concrete poured this week. Pedestrians will be re-routed around the construction zone via temporary barriers. Access can be gained to the GSDM building via the ramp on the East Newton Street side of the 635 Albany Street entrance.
  • Demolition and hazardous-material removal will continue in the existing bathrooms on floors one through seven. Selective demolition will begin on the fifth floor following the removal of the dental chairs in the existing Patient Treatment Center.
  • Please consult these additional resources as needed:
    • GDSM COVID-19 information: http://www.bu.edu/dental/covid-19-information/. This webpage is a repository of all communications issued to the school community by the GSDM leadership. It also includes links to the Boston University and Boston University Medical Campus COVID-19 websites.

Please be sure to take notice of directional signage and markings on the floors as you navigate in and around GSDM. Circulation is being revised due to construction and to the need for proper social distancing as the school re-opens in alignment with the COVID-19 guidelines issued by state regulatory agencies and Boston University.

We hope that you remain safe and healthy.
As always, your safety is imperative!
