CFA Renovations – Construction Update – 5/22/20

During May 26th – May 29th:

CFA Exterior
855 Commonwealth Avenue is ready for construction to resume on May 26th

General

Beginning Tuesday May 26th, construction will resume after the COVID-19 work stoppage. The west alley entrance will remain closed over the next several weeks as work begins in the alleyway. The building can be accessed utilizing the new ramp on the east side of the building as well as the center entrance along Commonwealth Avenue. Temporary signs are posted to help direct you through the first floor.


Exterior

East Façade
  • Miscellaneous masonry work on the 2nd level will continue through the week.
South Façade
  • Miscellaneous masonry work will continue over the next several weeks.
West Façade
  • Demolition of the asphalt in the alleyway will continue.
  • Installation of granite and repointing will be ongoing throughout the week.
North Façade
  • Repairs to the window jambs will continue over the next several weeks.
  • Installation of relieving angles will begin and will last two weeks.
 Archways
  • Installation of sunshades will begin on the archways outside the movement Studio.

Interior

Basement
  • Reinstallation of the wood ceilings will begin and will continue throughout the week.
  • Work will continue on the installation of the controls for the HVAC systems over the next two weeks.
On the 1st Level
  • Student Lounge
    • Installation of the millwork trim and base will continue.
    • Grills and radiator covers will be completed by the end of the week.
  • Art Gallery
    • Work on the art gallery floor will continue.
    • Plastering in the art gallery will be ongoing in preparation for painting the following week.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
