CFA Renovations – Construction Update – 2/7/20
During February 7th – February 14th:
(Please note that there is work scheduled for Saturday, February 8th):
General:
Temporary signs are posted to help direct you through the first floor. The main building access is through the west entrance near the concert hall. Stair access directly off Commonwealth Ave will be open and closed periodically as construction continues and signage will indicate status. The central stair is always available for emergency egress.
Exterior:
There is work scheduled for this Saturday, February 8th. This work will consist of the installation of glass along the south facade.
For the remainder of the week, the exterior work will consist of:
East Façade
- Work will continue with the installation of the ramp and handrails. This will continue into mid-February.
- Paving will begin after the ramp is completed.
South Façade
- Removal of the staging on the southeast half of the south façade continues.
- On the southwest the washing of the façade will begin followed by the washing of the windows.
- Removal of the staging along the southwest half of the south façade began towards the middle of the week and will be ongoing throughout the month.
West Façade
- Washdown of the west façade will begin and continue throughout the week followed by window washing.
North Façade
- The removal and installation of new steel relieving angles will continue through the end of next week.
- Repairs to the window jambs has commenced and will continue into mid-March.
Interior:
There is work scheduled for this Saturday, February 8th. This work will consist of the installation of millwork, insulation of heating pipes in the art gallery, and preparation for floor demolition in the art gallery.
For the remainder of the week, the interior work will consist of:
On the Ground Level
- The welding and installation of piping in the mechanical rooms continues and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
On the 1st Level
- The installation of the vitrines in the art gallery is ongoing through the end of the month.
- Plastering of the walls in the student lounge will begin through next week, followed by paint.
- The installation of the sprung floor in the student lounge will continue through the end of next week.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
