CFA Renovations – Construction Update – 1/24/20
During January 24th – January 31st:
(Please note that there is work scheduled for Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th)
General:
Temporary signs are posted to help direct you through the first floor. The main building access is through the west entrance near the concert hall. Stair access directly off Commonwealth Ave will be open and closed periodically as construction continues and signage will indicate status. The central stair is always available for emergency egress.
Exterior:
There is work scheduled for this Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th. This work will consist of the removal of staging on the southeast façade, roof flashing on the southwest parapet, and installation of the window arches on the south facade.
For the remainder of the week, the exterior work will consist of:
East Façade
- Work will continue with the installation of the ramp and handrails.
- Paving will begin after the ramp is completed.
South Façade
- Removal of the staging will start on the southeast half of the south façade and continue over the next couple of weeks.
- The parapet along the southwest façade will be flashed in preparation of the capstone installation, followed by the washing of the facade.
West Façade
- The installation of parapet limestone will continue through the week followed by flashing and the installation of capstone.
North Façade
- The removal and installation of new steel relieving angles will continue for the next few weeks.
- The repointing of bricks will continue and should be completed at the end of the month.
Interior:
There is work scheduled for this Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th. This work will consist of framing and floor installation in the student lounge and electrical work in the art gallery.
For the remainder of the week, the interior work will consist of:
On the Ground Level
- The welding and installation of piping in the mechanical rooms continues through the end of the month.
On the 1st Level
- Installation of tile and plaster on the art gallery ramp and stairs has begun and will continue, followed by painting.
- The installation of the vitrines in the art gallery will continue through the end of the month.
- Plastering of the walls in the student lounge will begin next week, followed by painting.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
