Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 12/20/19

During the week of December 23rd:

Parking Lot N

  • The drilling subcontractor will be installing the high-performance geothermal exchange vertical piping within the completed boreholes in the fenced in area of Lot N.
  • The testing group will be onsite to perform advanced borehole testing of GT-2. This work involves using acoustic televiewer (ATV) and optical televiewer (OTV) tools provides high‐resolution images that reveal changes in rock type to help the design team understand whether rock type/hardness and the orientation and dip-angle of geologic structures influence borehole deviation.
  • Soil material stockpiling and handling in the basin area will continue. The site contractor will be using excavation equipment to remove this material from the settlement basin and load it into trucks for removal to a disposal facility.
  • Water from the storage tanks will continue to be discharged into the storm water drainage system pending test results.

Alleyway

  • The drilling subcontractor will be drilling to the full depth at GT-20. Upon completion, they intend to move to GT-17 at the end of the week. To accommodate this work, the construction fence line will be extended east and adjacent parking will be temporarily relocated.
  • Construction equipment will be periodically entering and existing the fenced-in area.

Park

  • Construction equipment will be making periodic trips into the fenced area of the park to access the stockpiled materials.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. Your safety is imperative!
