CFA Renovations – Construction Update – 10/25/19

During October 25th – November 1st:

(Please note that there is work scheduled for Saturday, October 26^th):

General:

Temporary signs are posted to help direct you through the first floor. The main building access is through the west entrance near the Concert Hall. Stair access directly off Commonwealth Ave will be open and closed periodically as construction continues and signage will indicate status. The central stair is always available for emergency egress.

Exterior:

There is work scheduled for this Saturday, October 26th. This work will consist of the setting of limestone at the 5^th floor windows on the east elevation. The installation of relieving angles and mullion clips as well as stone repointing on the south elevation as well as demolition on the north elevation.

East Façade

• Parapet repair, flashing, and stone re-installation will commence on level 5.

West Façade

• Removal and repair of the limestone window lintels will continue on level 5.

South Façade

• Stone repointing & stone installation on level 2 will continue and will commence on level 3 at the eastern half of the building (from the main entrance of the building heading towards the BU Bridge).
• Stone repointing & stone installation on level 2 will commence at the western half of the building (from the main entrance of the building heading towards Agganis Arena).

North Façade

• Masonry demolition and joint cutting on the lower level will continue through the remainder of the month. 

Interior:

There is work scheduled in the 4^th floor restrooms for this Saturday, October 26th. This work will consist of the installation of ductwork as well as piping in the basement. On the 1^st floor, electricians will be working in the art gallery installing lighting. On the 4^th floor, flooring work will be ongoing in the restrooms.

For the remainder of the week, the interior work will consist of:

On the Ground Level

• The installation of HVAC piping and ductwork will commence along the corridor near the ethnomusicology classroom and surrounding open labs heading east.

On the 1^st Level 

• The installation/welding of HVAC piping will continue in corridor 195 outside of room 109.
• The Commonwealth Gallery continues to have HVAC equipment and sprinkler work installed.
• HVAC equipment, lighting, and ceiling work continue in the elevator lobby moving towards the art gallery.
• The installation of lighting in the art gallery is set to commence.

 On the 4^th Level

• The restrooms will see painting and ceiling tiles installed followed by partitions.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
