Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 10/4/19
During the week of October 7th:
Parking Lot N
- On Monday, 10/7, the drilling subcontractor will be remobilizing equipment and starting to drill and set the steel pipe casing for the geothermal wells GT-28, GT-29, GT-30, GT-31, and GT-6 within the parking area. The site subcontractor will continue pre-excavating at the well locations in the northeast corner of the parking lot.
- The subcontractor will be using a vacuum excavation truck to remove sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley and will be placing the material into the settlement basin within the fenced-in area. The site subcontractor will be handling the soil material for removal and transportation to the disposal facilities.
- Water from the storage tanks will continue to be tested periodically and will be discharged into the storm water drainage system upon acceptance from the testing agent.
Alleyway
- The drilling subcontractor has completed deviation testing at GT-23. The drilling subcontractor will continue drilling at geothermal well GT-16 towards the east end of the alleyway.
- The subcontractor will be using a vacuum excavation truck to remove sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley and will be placing the material into the settlement basin within the fenced-in area within Granby Parking Lot N.
Park
- The drilling subcontractor has injected grout down the borehole at GT-7 to stem the flow of ground water. After the grout has set, they anticipate remobilizing the drilling equipment to resume drilling at GT-07 later next week.
- Construction equipment will be making multiple trips into the fenced in park area to access the stockpiled steel pipe casing materials.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered. Your safety is imperative!
